The discipline of Positive Psychology encompasses human life with all of its diversity, in its positive aspects. Reflect its positive perspective, it focuses on three extensive areas of human experience and aims to to nurture talent and make life more fulfilling. (Seligman & Csikszentmihalyi, 2000).

 

POSITIVE SUBJECTIVE STATES:

 

  • Positive Psychology extensively explores the subjective level, examining POSITIVE SUBJECTIVE STATES, or positive emotions, like satisfaction with life, happiness, joy, love, intimacy, contentment and relaxation. Positive subjective states incorporate constructive thoughts concerning the self and the future, like optimism and hope, feelings of energy, vitality, and confidence. Positive subjective states also include effects of positive emotions such as laughter and enjoyment.

 

POSITIVE INDIVIDUAL TRAITS

  • Positive Psychology focuses on the more positive behavioral patterns seen in people over time POSITIVE INDIVIDUAL TRAITS, like demonstrations of courage, persistence, honesty, and wisdom. Positive Psychology also investigates the ability to cultivate aesthetic sensibility and access creative potential alongside the drive to achieve excellence. As such, positive psychology incorporates the study of positive traits and behaviors that were previously referred to as character strengths and virtues.

 

POSITIVE INSTITUTIONS
